Welcome to Wesley Mission School Moheto, Kenya.
For the children of Moheto, a small village in Migori County, Kenya, education is not just a dream, it’s their only hope of escaping poverty. Public schools are overcrowded, ill-equipped (very poor infrastructure) and under-resourced, while private schools are prohibitively expensive for most families.

At Wesley Mission School, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and inclusive educational environment for young minds to thrive. Our focus is on holistic development, creating a foundation for lifelong learning and success. Through innovative teaching methods and a supportive community, we aim to inspire love for learning and personal growth in every student.

Our Mission
Education is a road to empowerment!
Our mission is to create a safe space that allows students to develop essential life skills, embrace moral values, and support vulnerable groups, including young sexual minorities and girls at risk of female genital mutilation (FGM). We envision a future where every child can thrive in an inclusive and safe school environment. This school manifests our commitment to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to promote quality education and gender equality.

Why This Matters

-1.5 million school children in Kenya are not in school due to poverty.
- One in two Kenyan girls will never attend school.
- One in three Kenyan 6th graders cannot read or write.
- Nine in ten children from poor households will fail to complete 8th grade.

Who We Are
Wesley Mission School Moheto is a growing community school affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The First United Methodist Church Moheto, part of the Kenya-Ethiopia Annual Conference, upholds the church's educational policies as outlined in the Social Principles. These principles recognize that children are full human beings in their own right (Social Principles, ¶ 162C). Children have a right to education, and it is the responsibility of parents and governments to ensure they have access to a quality education. Therefore, we support the development of school systems and innovative educational methods designed to help every child achieve complete fulfillment as a valuable individual. All children deserve quality education (¶ 162C).

Wesley Mission School Moheto Celebrting a Milestone
Wesley Mission School Moheto, under the auspicious leadership and direction of Rev Kennedy Mwita, stands on the philosophy that: "Never doubt the power of a small group of thoughtful citizens to change the world; in fact it is the only thing that has ever changed the world" (read community). We appreciate all our development partners who have been part of this philosophy.
